From Bitstrips comes one of the most beloved alternative emoji creation apps available today. Once installed on your phone, create a custom avatar, save it and then choose from an enormous collection of customized emojis that can be posted anywhere. From images of your crafted Avatar celebrating to it posing in fun outfits you’ve put together, there’s no emotion this app can’t convey.

The success of Bitmoji comes from its cornering of a market that no one had thought to corner. Emojis had always been a fun way to spruce up text messages, but this app took it a step further, giving users a way to create emojis unique to them that could be sent in text messages. On top of this, there is such an enormous selection of sayings and poses that this app is anything but a glorified version of the emojis that come on your phone.

Even with a seemingly endless stream of positive reviews, there were a few complaints. The biggest is that the emojis with Bitmoji can’t be used with all other mediums. There is a limit. In addition, some feel there are certain aesthetic looks missing from the options given when building your emoji. Even so, the team does what it can to bring in regular updates to looks, fashion and fads featured in the app itself.
